There are two planned Phases to this project. Phase I is to take the front half of the board, cut it in half the other way, and make two shelves out of it. The board is in bad shape so the primary challenge, for both Phases appears to be in the refinishing of the surface.Phase II is to take the back half, put 4 legs underneath, and two lightbulbs out front to create a sort of dog-looking bench coffee table that will rest at the foot of my bed. I will post design sketches soon.
The pic you see here is of a test area. I used "Ooops" cleaner to loosen up the old wax and scraped it off with a trusty 5-n-1. After the area was clean, I sanded down the fiberglass using coarse grit sand paper. Then I mixed up some epoxy resin and laid it down thick. Once it drys I'll try sanding it down and putting on another coat.
